Have you heard the latest?

February 12, 2010

International Planned Parenthood Federation has release a report, Stand and Deliver: Sex, Health and Young People in the 21st Century that calls for world-wide, mandatory, comprehensive sex education for "young people," ages 10 to 24. Yes, you heard that right!

Bert Koenders, with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, states "Young people have the right to be fully informed about sexuality and to have access to contraceptives and other services. These rights are enshrined in various internationally agreed human rights conventions and treaties, but - unfortunately they are still not universally respected."(pg.5)  Well if Bert has his way, comprehensive sex education will be mandatory. (pg23)

IPPF is concerned about the inequity of services available to the poor and marginalized and that they will be "vulnerable to the appeals of fundamentalists, religious or political groups" (pg.28) IPPF declares:
Fundamentalist and other religious groups the
- Catholic Church and madrasas (Islamic schools) for example, have imposed tremendous barriers that prevent young people, Particularly(sic), from obtaining information and services related to sex and reproduction. Currently, many religious teachings deny the pleasurable and positive aspects of sex and limited guidelines for sexual education often focus on abstinence before marriage (although evidence shows this strategy has been ineffective in many settings).(pg.28)

So, should we leave the sex education of our children to them? They, who are concerned that "Girls and young women who are vulnerable to coercive sex or sex work, or living in contexts where contraception is not yet well accepted among men, may need guidance on negotiating condom use, and other contraceptives."(pg.24) What is wrong with this picture? How about helping them to escape the situation rather than slapping a condom on it?

IPPF strongly believes that every "young person" has a right to birth control, abortion and their brand of sexual education. They believe "Comprehensive sexuality education is perhaps the single most important gift that parents can offer to their children - and to Adolescents everywhere - as they approach the age at which they will begin to have sex."(pg.22)

IPPF also states, "And while it is important to respect culture, it is only with the active support of key community leaders (sound like Planned Parenthood's Negro Project?) that culture evolves to reverse harmful attitudes and traditions around adolescence, gender, sexuality and childbearing."(pg.23) "Culture, religion and traditions are some of the biggest obstacles in implementing sexual and reproductive health programmes(sic) for young people."(pg.28)

And if you think you only have to worry about them indoctrinating your children in school, Andrea Nunez Argote tells us in the Forward on pg.4   "We provide safe places for young people to access the information they need through activities such as dance classes, karate and drawing. Andrea is refering to the YWCA of Naucalpan, where she works as a volunteer.

We have a way for you to "stand and deliver" the truth for your children, the children of your community and even those in other nations by countering IPPF's misinformation. Human Life Alliance released its brand new 2010/2011 edition of Just for Girls/Just for Guys (J4G) six months early to fill the incredible demand that had emptied the shelves of the previous edition for teens.

The U.S. government spends $12 on comprehensive sex education for every $1 it spends on abstinence centered education and the current administration is trying to zero out abstinence-centered education funding. Unlike comprehensive sex education that sends the message, "you're going to do it anyway, so at least use protection," HLA wants to teach our children the most effective means of protecting themselves is abstaining from sexual activity until marriage

Just for Girls/Just for Guys is a vital tool that can be used to educate our teens and parents about the dangers of premarital and promiscuous sex. Contact HLA at 651-484-1040 or www.humanlife.org to request a free sample or to request copies for your high school, youth group, or community.

Will you help HLA transform the hearts and minds of teens this coming year?

February 4, 2010

At age 15, 13% of all teenagers in the United States are sexually active. By age 19, seven in 10 will have engaged in sexual intercourse.

Sexual activity before marriage is commonplace and actually encouraged by liberal groups like Planned Parenthood. They manipulate our young people into thinking that abortion is the only "solution" to an unplanned pregnancy and most young adults won't even consider marriage until their mid to late 20s. All of this causes our teens to become trapped in sexually permissive lifestyles, which can last for a decade or more.

This unfettered notion of "sexual freedom" is the leading cause of abortion in our nation--50% of all abortions in the U.S. are performed on young women between the ages of 13 and 24.

To meet the rising demand for our services and help teens understand the root of abortion, HLA released our 2010-2011 Just for Girls/Just for Guys teen abstinence magazine almost six months ahead of schedule!

Just for Girls/Just for Guys leverages our tried and true method of reaching students when they are most vulnerable. It is written and designed to appeal to 15-18 year olds, as a powerful weapon against the temptation to engage in premarital sex. This updated edition addresses the most pressing issues teens face in their struggle to remain chaste and pure. New articles include information on sexting, sexual mathematics and original testimonies written by young adults who've successfully lived out this challenge.

Our goal for the coming year is to reach 1.5 million students with this latest edition.

We need your help to end the use of abortion in our nation. Could you consider a gift of $10, $35, or $25 to support the distribution of these magazines?

Your response today will ensure the success of this life-saving outreach. Please donate.

Second Annual Pro-life Campus Activism Contest Set for February and March

January 27, 2010

Human Life Alliance (HLA) and Students for Life of America (SFLA) announce the second annual Campus Impact Award challenge which offers $1,000 in prizes to student clubs that promote pro-life activism during the months of February and March.

The Award encourages students to act upon their pro-life beliefs after the March for Life and other walks fuels their spark of enthusiasm. Tens of thousands of young people turn out for these local and national events.

"We're asking students to step up and be a catalyst for pro-life action on their campus," said HLA Deputy Director Joe Langfeld. "When young people return from these powerful events, they're inspired to stand up for life. The Impact Award helps young people show their peers that pro-life values are alive and well on campus."

Ideas for student projects include distributing pro-life literature on campus, poster campaigns, leafleting at basketball games, tabling in the student union and more. Three cash prizes of $500, $250 and $250 will be awarded to the top three clubs who succeed in producing creative and broad reaching educational efforts.

Kristan Hawkins, SFLA Executive Director, stated, "This is just the type of encouragement students need to cultivate a pro-life presence on campus. In turn, the new opportunities developed through the challenge will launch pro-life clubs to a whole new level of activism."

The 2009 Campus Impact Award winners were Purdue Students for Life (1st place), University of New Mexico Students for Life (2nd place) and the Carnegie Mellon University Respect Life Club (3rd place). Each club used unique opportunities on campus to present a dynamic pro-life message. University of New Mexico Students for Life increased their club size 70% as a result of their Campus Impact project.

Students are encouraged to contact Human Life Alliance or Students for Life of American to receive a copy of the official rules. The contest begins February 1st and runs through March 31, 2010. Contestants must document their "Campus Impact" project and submit presentation information for final judging by midnight of March 31st. YouTube videos, digital photos and emailed reports will be accepted.

We Commemorate Those Who Have Died

January 22, 2010

As we remember with great sorrow the 37th anniversary of the legalized killing of preborn children in the United States, let us reflect on some of the consequences of that horrific Supreme Court decision.

Over 52 million children have been surgically aborted and untold numbers have been killed through chemical abortions. Of the surgical abortions, 12% occur after the first trimester with 1.4 % occurring after the 21st week.

Millions of women and men are scarred either psychologically, physically or both. Women have died as a result of legal abortion and many have been unable to bear subsequent children. Men too suffer from the destruction of their children, with or without their participation in the deed.

Easily available abortion mitigates responsibility for the natural outcome of the sex act and has led to a decline in the family and erosion of traditional morals and values.

There has been a cultural shift in the devaluation of all life as is evident by the increased violence in our homes and on our streets. The preborn, disabled and elderly are in much greater peril than before Roe V. Wade. 90% of all babies diagnosed pre- birth with Down's syndrome are aborted. We have seen gross abuses in regards to end of life issues with seniors and the sick.

Be a strong witness for life. If you can, attend the March for Life in Washington, DC on Jan.22 or the Walk for Life in San Francisco, California on January 23. Students for Life National Conference is in Washington, DC January 23 and many local SFL chapters are hosting programs. Attend a rally, march or walk or other pro-life events in your community and take HLA's resources with you. Visit the offices of your congressional representatives. Be seen and let your voices be heard. You can make a difference.

National Cancer Institute Researcher admits Abortion/Breast Cancer Link

January 18, 2009

For more than 13 years HLA has been warning women of the increased risk factors associated between abortion, hormonal contraception use and breast cancer. As you know, our position has been extremely unpopular.

When major cancer researchers removed evidence about this link from their websites, HLA was forced to more aggressively defend our position.

Those who would like the truth to be silenced, tried to discredit icare... by attempting to refute the Abortion/Breast cancer link. Citing the National Cancer Institute's denial of any connection between abortion and breast cancer, critics completely ignored the fact that 17 different, well documented studies agreed there is a link between abortion and breast cancer. Most recently Dr. Louise Brinton, U.S. National Cancer Institute researcher and former chief organizer of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) workshop in 2003, who said it was "well established" that "abortion is not associated with increased breast cancer risk," has reversed her position. She now admits that oral contraceptives raise breast cancer risks as much as 320% and abortion, 20-50 percent.

You can read more about the ABC link in icare... on page 8 and also here.

Our Greatest Defense Against the Culture of Death...

the Truth!

December 17, 2009

Human Life Alliance promotes the truth about the dignity and personhood of every human being, born and preborn, without exception or compromise.

HLA is dedicated to creating a culture in which all human life, from the moment of fertilization to natural death, is respected and cherished.

HLA  tells the truth about the gruesome realities of abortion, the benefits of abstinence until marriage, exposes the errors and health risks of  the "safe-sex" lie. HLA opposes euthanasia in all its forms, while fighting for the protection of all human life including the terminally ill, elderly, disabled and medically vulnerable.

HLA's compelling educational materials have been distributed outside of abortion centers, to high schools, colleges, churches and pro-life organizations around the world and have reached 162 million people over the past 19 years. Testimonies prove these materials are instrumental in changing the hearts and minds of people-some of whom credit it with saving the lives of their preborn children.

Just for Girls/Just for Guys addresses the most pressing issues teens face in their fight to remain chaste and pure. This ingenious flip magazine covers the full spectrum of abstinence issues and strikes at the root cause of the abortion epidemic by helping teens recognize the errors of the "safe-sex" message.

icare... is designed to educate individuals about abortion and its consequences. With the current eco-friendly, "go-green" movement we are constantly urged to search for new ways in which to preserve the environment. icare... is designed to encourage people to recognize our world's most precious resource-human life! The solid pro-life content in icare... challenges the reader to re-evaluate their opinions about abortion, premarital sex, and the humanity of the preborn child.

Imposed Death exposes common misunderstandings associated with Living Wills and end-of-life decisions. By documenting society's efforts to disenfranchise the elderly, disabled, and medically vulnerable, this groundbreaking publication shows how the "right-to-die" movement aims to pull us all down this dangerous, slippery slope.

Abortion is the leading cause of death in the African American community. Did You Know? shatters the silence of this tragedy through powerful images and articles written by Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.; Dr. Johnny Hunter, President of L.E.A.R.N., Inc.; Rev. Arnold Culbreth, Urban Outreach Director of Life Issues Institute and others.

Ella es una niña, no una "opción" is HLA's Spanish language publication. Translated in partnership with Vida Humana Internacional, it is an excellent resource for Hispanic outreach. It has been distributed in the United States and most Spanish speaking countries with amazing results.
